Paul doubt

Paul Doubt (born June 30, 1848 in Höngg , today Zurich , † August 13, 1927 in Leipzig ) was a Swiss gynecologist . He was a pioneer in the study of fetal physiology .

Life

Paul Zweifel's father Heinrich Zweifel was a doctor in Höngg. Paul Zweifel studied medicine at the University of Zurich . In 1872 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on adnexal surgery and became Adolf Gusserow's assistant . With Gusserow he went to the newly founded University of Strasbourg . There he completed his habilitation in 1874. In the same year he became a full professor at the University of Erlangen . In 1876 he was appointed director of the Erlangen gynecological clinic, which he headed until 1887. In 1887 he followed the call to succeed Carl Credé as full professor at the Leipzig University Women's Clinic . Doubt became a member of the Leopoldina in 1892 and an honorary member in 1925 . He was dean of the medical faculty three times and rector of Leipzig University from 1900 to 1901 . He headed the women's clinic for 35 years until his retirement .

His son Erwin H. Zweifel (1885–) also became a gynecologist and was an associate professor at the University Women's Clinic in Munich .

The Doubt handle is named after Paul Zweifel , a two-handed pressing together and against each other of the uterine body to stop atonic bleeding after childbirth.
