Johann Paul Friedrich Richter , von Richter since 1913 (born March 14, 1848 in Zinnitz ; † February 9, 1925 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 8th field artillery brigade .

Life

origin

Paul was a son of the landowner von Roitz Friedrich Richter (1815–1882) and his wife Auguste, née Velten (1824–1848).

Military career

After attending grammar school in Dresden , Richter joined the 1st Silesian Field Artillery Regiment No. 6 of the Prussian Army on April 2, 1867 , and was promoted to extra-budgetary second lieutenant by the end of July 1868 . During the Franco-Prussian War Richter was used in the siege of Paris , was appointed artillery officer at the end of December 1870 and was slightly wounded on January 15, 1871 when bombarded on the southern front. He also took part in the battles at Villejuif , Vitry, Hautes-Bruyères, Chevilly and L'Haÿ .

Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class, he was transferred to the 1st Upper Silesian Field Artillery Regiment No. 21 after the peace treaty on October 26, 1872 , and from October 1872 to June 1873 he was sent to the United Artillery and Engineering School for further training . There he was appointed prime lieutenant on December 14, 1875 and regimental adjutant on November 27, 1875. In position à la suite of his regiment, he was commanded on April 13, 1880 as adjutant of the 5th Field Artillery Brigade . Left in this position, Richter was transferred to the 1st Hanover Field Artillery Regiment No. 10 on May 14, 1881 . On October 1, 1899, he switched to the field artillery regiment No. 75 as commander . On May 18, 1901, he was given the command of the 8th Field Artillery Brigade in Halle (Saale) , appointed commander on November 14, 1901 and promoted to major general on January 27, 1903.

Under awarded the Red Eagle II. Class with oak became a judge on April 24, 1904 Pension zur Disposition asked. After his adoption , Kaiser Wilhelm II raised him to the hereditary Prussian nobility on June 16, 1913 . He died on February 9, 1925 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.

In his assessment of January 1, 1872, Colonel Arnold wrote. “A solid character, he has impeccable morality and, with good skills, has already acquired satisfactory professional knowledge. Zealous, useful and reliable in service, he shows a good military demeanor, as well as his sociable forms and honest demeanor. His behavior in front of the enemy was very good. "

Richter married Wilhelmine Wittner (1850-1916) on September 16, 1873 in Fritzlar . The couple had several children:
