Penelope is a US-American - British film comedy by Mark Palansky from the year 2006 .

Penelope suffers from the fact that from birth she has a nose that looks like a pig's trunk. She owes this nose to the curse of a witch . It can only be lifted if someone “of her blood” loves Penelope for who she is - a nobleman as they say. Penelope's mother hires a matchmaker who introduces Penelope to noble lords. However, these flee at first sight. In order to protect Penelope from the public and the press, the marriage candidates have to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Two of these candidates are particularly at the center of the story: Edward Vanderman, who makes a fool of himself in front of the press with the as yet unknown story of a "monster" and then sends in another candidate named Max (actually Johnny) to take a photo evidence of Penelope to let. Max falls in love with Penelope, but cannot lift the curse as he is not a nobleman and eventually escapes.
Over time, Penelope finds it increasingly difficult to hide and secretly ventures into town. In order not to be recognized, she wears a scarf in front of her face all the time. Her parents find her when she passed out and had to go to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the world also knows about Penelope and so she can fearlessly roam the city without having to veil herself.
Since Edward has made a fool of himself in public, he is forced by his father to marry Penelope. Shortly before saying yes, Penelope changed her mind. She realizes that she likes herself for who she is. With this knowledge, she herself releases the curse. She leaves her parents' home and becomes a teacher. At a Halloween party, she smuggles into Johnny's apartment in disguise. However, he recognizes her and kisses her. They then decide to stay together.
