Pozza di Fassa ( Ladin Poza (de Fascia) , German outdated: Potzach im Fasstal ) is a fraction of the municipality ( comune ) San Giovanni di Fassa in Trentino in the autonomous region of Trentino-South Tyrol .

geography

Pozza di Fassa is located about 60 kilometers north-northeast of Trento at an altitude of ( 1325  m slm ) in the central Fassatal . The Val San Nicolò, which runs from east to west and leads into the Monzoni-Valacia group, a subgroup of the Marmolata group belonging to the Dolomites, flows into Pozza di Fassa .

history

Pozza di Fassa was an independent municipality until December 31, 2017. In a referendum on November 20, 2016, the residents of the municipalities of Pozza and Vigo di Fassa voted for the merger of the two municipalities, while the inhabitants of Mazzin and Soraga also rejected a merger of their municipalities.

On December 31, 2017, the municipality of Pozza di Fassa had 2275 inhabitants on an area of ​​73.2 km². The municipality bordered directly on the provinces of Bolzano and Belluno ( Veneto ). Neighboring communities were Canazei , Mazzin, Moena , Soraga and Vigo di Fassa in Trentino as well as to the South Tyrolean communities Tiers and Welschnofen and to the community Rocca Pietore in Veneto.

The municipality of Pozza di Fassa included the fractions: Pera di Fassa, Monzon and Ronch.

Demographics

The Pozza parish consisted of approximately 693 households . According to the figures of the ten-yearly census of the ISTAT , the population increased between 1991 and 2001 by 7.1% and between 2001 and 2011 by 19.6%.
