Peter Carlone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Carlone (* 1567 in Scaria ; † December 4, 1628 in Leoben ) was an Austrian master builder in the Leoben an der Mur area in Upper Styria .

He is one of the founding fathers of the Austrian branch of the Carlone family of artists . The assumption that he came from the fortress builder Peter Carlone, mentioned in Kreuz in Lower Styria ( Croatia ) from 1554 to 1560 , has not yet been clearly proven.

Life

Peter Carlone was admitted as a master in Deutschlandsberg in 1588 . In 1609 he tried to buying a property in Kaiserau at Admont , 1612 he bought a house in Leoben and performed there in 1614 the oath of citizenship . His name was mentioned in connection with a threat from a leather boy in Aflenz (1624) and a dispute with the Bruckner guild of bricklayers (1625). In 1627, the Leoben bricklayers' guild noted the master's absence at one of their meetings. In the following year, the Bruckner bricklayers' guild sent him a repeated warning.

Peter Carlone died in Leoben in 1628 after writing his will on December 3rd of the same year, which was declared valid on December 12th.

Descendants from the marriage of Peter Carlone from Leoben with Franziska are:

  1. Anton, later master builder at Neuberg Abbey , Styria
  2. Catherine
  3. Pietro Francesco Carlone (* around 1610; † 1681/82), later master builder
  4. Paul (born January 20, 1614 in Leoben). Paul was "crooked" and later became a tailor in Göss Abbey (Leoben)

From his second marriage to Susanna:

  2. Peter (born October 4, 1627 in Leoben; † 1665), later a Jesuit in Leoben

A daughter Bibiana, who according to Kohlbach was a nun in Göss, is not listed in Julius Tuschnig's family tree.
