Peter Müller (born November 28, 1873 in Bremen , † October 13, 1934 in Swakopmund ) was a German businessman, politician and mayor of Windhoek .

Life

In 1897 Peter Müller emigrated to Windhoek in German South West Africa .

On July 1, 1913, Peter Müller succeeded Gustav Voigts as honorary mayor of Windhoek. On May 12, 1915, Müller had to hand over the city to the South African General Louis Botha after Botha had put down the Boer rebellion in German South West Africa and led the campaign against South West Africa himself, which led to the surrender of the German troops here in 1915. On July 9, 1920, he was re-elected mayor.

Müller was the namesake of Peter-Müller-Straße with Christ Church in Windhoek, today Fidel Castro Street . A street in Windhoek has been named after him since 2013 (east of Maerua Mall ; 22 ° 35 ′ 4.5 ″  S , 17 ° 5 ′ 45.5 ″  E ).
