Peter Salomon Linger , from 1787 von Linger (* July 1719 , † July 11, 1793 in Neisse ) was a Prussian colonel and chief of the Silesian fortress artillery.

Life

origin

Peter Solomon was the nephew of 1705 ennobled general of artillery Christian Nicolaus Linger and after because of "many years of loyal service and knowledge of artillery being" on December 3, 1787, the Prussian nobility confirmation received, founder of the II. Line of the noble family of Linger . His parents were the lieutenant colonel in the field battalion of the Prussian artillery Jacob Salomon Linger (1676–1729) and his first wife Marie Elisabeth Lüderts. The war councilor Johann Gottlieb Friedrich (von) Linger (* 1725; † after 1779) was his half-brother.

Career

Linger joined the artillery of the Prussian army in 1738 . He was promoted to secondary lieutenant in 1753 , staff captain in 1759 and prime captain in 1761 . Until 1762 he had been the company commander of the 30th Company , but this year he changed to the 36th Company in the same position. He was promoted to major in 1776 and to lieutenant colonel in 1786. He was then commander of the 1st field artillery regiment . In 1788 he was promoted to colonel and at the same time succeeded the late Colonel Winterfeldt as chief of the Silesian fortress artillery .

family

His marriage to Maria Elisabeth von Linger, née Oppermann, and widow of his cousin, the Prussian major in the Kyaw cuirassier regiment Wilhelm von Linger (1720–1756), resulted in the following two sons and three daughters.
