Rudolph Heinrich von Winterfeldt

Rudolph Heinrich von Winterfeldt (born April 25, 1720 in Schmarzow , Uckermark , † March 15, 1788 in Neisse ) was a Prussian colonel and chief of the Silesian Artillery Corps. He inherited the Züsedom estate .

Life

origin

He was the son of Georg Friedrich von Winterfeld (1670-1720), heir to Woddow, Fahrenwalde, Vanselow and Schmarsow, and his wife Christine Elisabeth, née von Maltzahn (* 1747). The Lieutenant General Hans Karl von Winterfeldt was his brother.

Military career

After the early death of his father, he was raised by his mother. Winterfeldt joined the Prussian Army and in 1738 became a corporal in the artillery corps. There he was promoted to Second Lieutenant on November 19, 1741 , took part in the First Silesian War and was slightly wounded in the Battle of Chotusitz in 1742 . At the beginning of the Second Silesian War , he became Prime Lieutenant on August 12, 1744 . After the war, Winterfeldt joined the field artillery in Glatz , became a staff captain on November 7, 1752 and was promoted to captain on March 12, 1758 . On December 27, 1761, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . In 1762 he became the commander and chief of the 3rd Artillery Regiment. In this capacity he became a colonel on May 20, 1765. On October 4, 1776, the king appointed him chief of the Silesian Artillery Corps. Winterfeldt came to Neisse, where he died in mid-March 1788.

He fought in both the Silesian Wars and the Seven Years' War .

family

Winterfeldt was married to Charlotte Amalie Dorothea von Briest (* August 21, 1738 - May 30, 1813). Her sister Henriette married Major General von der Lochau . His only son Friedrich Wilhelm Dietlof (* May 21, 1767, † December 8, 1805) was a prime lieutenant a. D. and since 1792 with Johanne Henriette von Eisenhart (* December 17, 1771; † March 26, 1850), a daughter of the Police President Johann Friedrich von Eisenhart. Their brother was the future General Friedrich von Eisenhart .
