Peter Voss - the hero of the day is a German crime comedy directed by Georg Marischka from 1959 . It is the continuation of Peter Voss, the millionaire thief from 1958 . As with the predecessor, OW Fischer played the main role , other actors took over their roles from the first part.

action

After all his adventures, Peter Voss has retired to an alpine pasture, where he finally wants to eat dumplings in peace when Perrier, the lawyer of his deceased friend de la Roche, appears. He asks Peter Voss for help, as de la Roche's daughter and Perrier's ward Mary want to marry Prince Villarossa in a few weeks when they come of age. He's only after Mary's fortune. De la Roche left little cash, but his villa is insured against burglary for two million marks. So there must be a very valuable item in the villa.

Peter Voss first scrutinizes Prince Villarossa and his shady friends Dolly, Baron de Clock, Charley and Leslie. Then he looks for Mary and by chance finds a secret door in the house, behind which there are Chinese treasures, including eight precious Ming horses. Peter Voss is just gazing at her when Bobby Dodd suddenly stands behind him. He was hired to guard the horses. Bobby Dodd and Peter Voss are friends, but Peter uses the opportunity and knocks out Bobby. He brings the horses to Perrier as agreed. He hopes Villarossa will lose interest in Mary when she loses her fortune.

A short time later, Peter Voss finds Perrier passed out in his house. The horses were stolen by Villarossa's gang led by Baron de Clock. In a bar, Peter Voss overhears the gang in disguise and learns that the horses can only be sold in 14 days. Until then, the members divide the horses among themselves: Leslie receives one like Dolly and Charley, Villarossa two and the Baron the remaining three. Everyone goes to a different country for the 14 days. Peter Voss, in turn, receives support from Grace McNaughty, who Villarossa left for Mary, in his hunt for the horses.

Charley goes to Las Vegas and is first gutted by Peter Voss when playing poker and later, when he is guessing the Ming horse, he takes the horse in the form of a wise Chinese man.

Grace tracks down Leslie in Palmariva, where riots break out and the president's men and the rebels soon fight. In a new disguise, Peter Voss makes Leslie want to flee the country. Peter Voss saves the horse and leaves Leslie behind. In Palmariva, Peter Voss meets Bobby Dodd again and can only leave him with a trick, as a result of which Bobby Dodd is awarded the Grand Cross with diamonds for his services by the country's president.

In Marrakech , Peter Voss finds Prince Villarossa and Mary. He staged a hotel fire and relieved Villarossa of his two horses. In Haiderabad , India , Peter Voss can finally secure the baron's three little horses, while Grace McNaughty tracks down Dolly in Singapore . The crooks believe that they can use Grace as a hostage against the surrender of the seven horses. In the end, Peter Voss finds the last horse.

Meanwhile, Bobby Dodd, still in Mary's service, has found out that Peter Voss is sending the horses to Perrier. He has the seven that have already been sent handed over to him to give to Mary on her 18th birthday. In the end the horses would end up with the crooks again. Mary, on the other hand, has long since recognized that the noble people whom Villarossa introduces to his circle of friends are in reality small and large criminals. Villarossa, in turn, would be dropped from the gang when all the horses were back in their possession. So it is a good thing that in Bobby Dodd's horse transport case at the end there is Peter Voss himself, who can take out the criminals with Bobby Dodds and Grace McNaughty's help.

Bobby Dodd and Mary board the ship back home and the horses travel with them. Grace McNaughty would like to spend her time with Peter Voss, but he prefers to deliver her ex-fiancé Villarossa, well tied up for an (in) voluntary second chance with her.

Reviews

“The two disguise roles and the brightly colored 'international' milieu make the confusing and amusing story palatable,” said the film service . "Again OW Fischer presents himself in all sorts of mummies," Der Spiegel stated succinctly in 1960. The Protestant film observer came to the following conclusion: “Slapstick entertainment with the jack-of-all-trades Peter Voss, who, like in the first part, is hunting for treasure around the globe again. Colorful shots from distant countries, plus a little thrill, successful disguise scenes and the usual film ideas. "
