Building description

On the raised property at Fauggersweg 8, not visible from the street, the modern church building stands on a trapezoidal floor plan. The side walls are made of brick and the elevated choir wall is made of exposed concrete . The church tower is at the southwest corner, which tapers at an acute angle. He is as well as the counter chorus rising nave with black Eternit covered comprehensively. The south-facing entrance is right next to the tower in the relatively narrow area of the church with the baptistery adjoining it . The nave widens to the choir in a funnel-shaped and symmetrical manner. Indirect light falls on the altar area from above and the colored side windows are intended to create an atmospheric atmosphere.

Furnishing

Interior of the Marienkirche Ins

The concrete glass windows by Travaglini have the seven holy sacraments as their theme: Baptism with the Holy Trinity, Confirmation with the Pentecost event, penance with the human sins shown as a crown of thorns, marriage with love and God's blessing for new life, the altar sacrament with the Lord's Supper, the anointing of the sick with violet shapes for diseases that lead to redemption in the golden cross and the ordination , God's call to the priesthood.

The floor consists of clay tiles with many small animal and plant reliefs, which symbolize the diversity of creation. The baptismal font and the altar are made of Castion granite . Silhouettes of the twelve apostles in relief embrace the altar block. The massive ambo was built in 1994. The tabernacle , crucifix, candlesticks and door handles are made of cast bronze .

Bells

The ringing of the three bells is matched to that of the Evangelical Reformed Church with the chimes g ', h' and d '. Their symbolism applies to the Trinity of God and the veneration of Mary. The inscriptions with the representations are: 1. In the beginning God created heaven and earth with the creation of Eve, 2. Christ yesterday, today and tomorrow with the wedding of Canaan, 3. The Spirit of the Lord fills the earth with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit .

Surroundings

The outbuildings, such as the rectory with the classrooms and the sacristy built as a connecting element to the church , are to be replaced according to the planning that has been ongoing since 2016. At the same time, the church should also be renovated. It is intended to build the rectory with the apartment back down to the basement and build a floor with a community hall and classrooms above the laterally offset hall wing. In the construction project, access to the church is to be set up with a wide flight of stairs and a lift in the building. Afterwards the view from the street to the church should be open. The construction project was interrupted by the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic.
