History and description

Today's Mariahilfkirche in Premenreuth was built in 1799 and 1800. It was built in place of a previous building, which in turn replaced a Lady Chapel in 1773 , which was built there in 1600 as a court chapel .

Rosary Madonna

The choir arch of the pilgrimage church is adorned with an approx. Two meter tall rosary Madonna, created in 1803 by the local master carpenter.

Its high altar , which comes from the Carmelite Church in Regensburg and was bought for 36.40 guilders , was only given to the late Baroque St. Mary's Church in 1814. The altar is decorated by 14 angels of different sizes. The two apostles James (right) and John (left) are depicted on the sides. The Holy Spirit, symbolized by a dove, is depicted at the top of the altar. At the bottom of the altar is the monogram of Our Lady. The central portrait of the Madonna of the altar is a " miraculous painting " one of many copies of a called "Maria Hilf" painting Lucas Cranach the Elder .

The large angel figure above the entrance to the sacristy is the Archangel Gabriel . To the right of the altar is the figure of the Archangel Raphael . The altarpiece on the right side altar shows Saint Wendelin who, according to legend, was a missionary in the 6th century in the diocese of Trier . On the left there are figures of Leonhard of Limoges and Isidore of Madrid , on the right those of Florian von Lorch and St. Anna , mother of Mary and grandmother of Jesus. The left side altar shows the Scourged Savior in the altarpiece, St. John Nepomuk on the left and St. Felix von Nola on the right . Next to the side altar on the wall there is a figure of the holy martyr Sebastian and on the right side the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. There is a statue of the Virgin Mary in the chancel.

The organ of Reinhard Weise with 13 / II / P on the gallery Opened in 1994, pointing to a painting King David . In the bell house you can see the coat of arms of Johannes Philipp Ferdinand von Reitzenstein.
