Pietro Dutto (born February 18, 1989 in Cuneo ) is an Italian biathlete .

Pietro Dutto lives in Cueno and studied at the University of Turin . He starts for Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro , has been a member of the Italian national team since 2008 and competed in his first international races in 2007 as part of the Junior European Cup . The first major event was the 2008 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding , where he finished 17th in the individual, 14th in the sprint, 11th in the pursuit and, with Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch, third in the relay race. The junior races at the Biathlon European Championships 2008 in Nové Město na Moravě were less successfulin which Dutto was 45th in the individual, 33rd in the sprint and 12th in the relay. In the further course of the season he also started in the roller ski junior races of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2008 in Haute-Maurienne and finished 21st in the sprint and 25th in the pursuit. The following year the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2009 in Canmore , in which Dutto was 14th of the individual, 35th of the sprint and 25th of the pursuit race. The last major event among the juniors was the 2010 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Torsby . In Sweden, the Italian came 35th in the individual, 29th in the sprint, 27th in the pursuit and tenth in the relay race.

From the end of the 2009/10 season , Dutto started in the IBU Cup . He contested his first race in Martell and, as eleventh in a sprint, not only immediately won points, but also missed his first top ten placement by just one place. In the following 2010/11 season he achieved his first place in the top ten in a sprint in Obertilliach in sixth place. At the season finale in Annecy he achieved a first place on the podium in the singles behind Ivan Joller and Roman Pryma in third and improved this one day later as second behind Florian Graf . In the overall ranking of the competition series, he was 22. The first major event in the performance area were the 2011 European Biathlon Championships in Ridanna . Dutto was 26th of the individual, 18th of the sprint, 15th of the pursuit and seventh with Daniel Taschler , Dominik Windisch and Rudy Zini as the final runners of the season. In the further course of the year he started at the Summer Biathlon European Championships 2011 in Martell, where he finished eighth in the sprint and in the pursuit race based on it, in fourth place, just missed a medal by one place. The first major winter event for men was the 2012 European Biathlon Championships in Osrblie . Dutto was 19th in the individual, 42nd in the sprint, 36th in the pursuit and tenth in the relay race with Mirco Doddi , Michael Galassi and Riccardo Romani . At the start of the 2012/13 season , the Italian competed in his first races in the Biathlon World Cup . In Östersund he just missed winning the first World Cup points in the first race of the season, an individual, as 42nd. He won this in the following sprint race as 39.

Nationally, Dutto won his first men's medals at the Italian Championships 2011 in Forni Avoltri with silver in the sprint and bronze in the mass start race, after winning bronze in the sprint and pursuit last year in the juniors.
