Gorenja vas-Poljane (German: Baiersdorf-Pölland ) is a municipality in the Gorenjska (German: Upper Carniola ) region in Slovenia .

7209 people live in the total community, which consists of 73 localities and hamlets. The two eponymous main towns Gorenja vas (German: Baiersdorf ) and Poljane (German: Pölland ) nad Škofjo Loko have 1,155 and 390 inhabitants respectively. The municipality is located in the central section of the Poljanska dolina valley. Some hamlets reach up to an altitude of 1000 m.

The valley was once part of the Škofja Loka (German: "Bischoflaak") rule . Until the end of the Habsburg Empire, the municipality Poljane belonged to the Kronland Carniola , whereby the municipality was part of the judicial district of Bischoflack and the district of Krainburg .

The church of St. John the Baptist in Gorenja vas is worth seeing. Origins go back to the 14th century. It was first mentioned in 1623.

The international master photographer Vlastja Simončič has opened the first Slovenian photography museum in Gorenja vas. The museum, which is well worth seeing, goes back to the beginnings of photography.
