Pomerode , officially Portuguese Município de Pomerode , is a small town with around 33,450 inhabitants in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina . The city lies on the Rio Testo, around 25 kilometers north of Blumenau , to which it belonged administratively until January 21, 1959. General

The urban area stretches for about 8 kilometers through the valley of the Rio Testo, which runs in a north-south direction, with the city center extending directly on the western bank of the river. Two main streets run through the center of Pomerode about a block apart: Avenida Vinte e Um de Janeiro , which is partly laid out as an avenue, and Rua Luiz Abry , which runs a little to the east and becomes Rua XV de Novembro south of the city center .

Landmarks are the two city gates, the south gate on Rua XV de Novembro and the north gate located far outside the city center on Rua Presidente Costa e Silva .

East of the city center on Rua Hermann Weege is the Zoológico Pomerode (zoological garden), which houses various domestic and exotic animal species on around 65,000 square meters, including monkeys , lions , tigers , wolves , giraffes , zebras , elephants , hippos and various reptiles. and species of birds .

Both the U-18 Women's Fistball World Championship 2014 and the U-18 Fistball World Championship 2014 took place here.
