Ponezhukay ( Russian Понежукай ; Adyghe Пэнэжьыкъуай ) is Aul in the Republic of Adygea ( Russia ) with 3,456 inhabitants (14 October 2010).
geography
The place is about 65 km as the crow flies northwest of the republic capital Maikop on the Aptschas river, which flows a few kilometers north into the Krasnodar reservoir of the Kuban .
Poneschukai is the administrative seat of the Teutscheschski Rajons and the seat of the rural community Poneschukaiskoje selskoje posselenije, to which, in addition to Poneschukai, the Aule Natscheresi, Neschukai and Pschikuichabl, the settlement of Zarya and the hamlets (chutor) Kolos, Kotschkin and Schunduk belong.
history
The Aul was founded in 1800. In 1924 he became the center of a rajon, which in 1940 received the name of the Adygeic poet Zug Teutschesch (1855-1940). In 1963 the neighboring Oktjabrski rajon (today Tachtamukaiski rajon ) was connected and the administrative headquarters were moved to Oktjabrski (today again Tachtamukai), then in 1976 to the newly created city of Teutscheschsk (today Adygeisk). After the re-outsourcing of the Oktjabrski rajon in 1983 and the formation of an independent Adygeisk district , Poneschukai became the center of the Teutscheschski rajon again in 2000.

Poneschukai is on the regional road that connects the M4 trunk road south of the Krasnodar reservoir at Adygeisk, 15 km west of Poneschukai, with the R253 Ust-Labinsk - Beloretschensk - Maikop.
