The nature reserve Prügelwiesen near Wiesbaden in Breckenheim is located east of the Wiesbaden district of Breckenheim in the German state of Hesse .
natural reserve
The 7,909-hectare reserve of corporal meadows includes a small valley with Kalkflachmoor and Seggenried with Davall sedge and damp and wet meadows with scattered fruit component in the transition zone of the natural spaces Main-Taunus foothills and Vortaunus . The purpose is to maintain and safeguard their importance for the natural balance , the protection of biotopes and species and the landscape. In order to protect the species-rich grassland community, the area should be used extensively for agriculture, arable land should be converted into grassland and the orchards should be tended.
There are endangered ferns from the genus of the adder's tongues in the area , as well as animals such as the camel runner (a ground beetle ) and the rare marsh insect . In 2015, 6 Davall sedges were found, but the population is declining sharply.
The watercourse from the source swamp is piped and flows into the Klingenbach , which drains into the Main via the Wickerbach .
The area is looked after by the Forsthaus Chausseehaus von Hessen-Forst .
Surname
The field name Prügelwiese is documented as "gein der Brulwysen" in 1363 and goes back to the toponym Brühl , an old word for meadows, forests or wetlands.
