Willkommen auf Rügen is a German TV film by Jan Ruzicka from 2017 . It is the pilot film of the ARD series Praxis with a Sea View with Tanja Wedhorn as the doctor Nora Kaminski in the lead role and Stephan Kampwirth , Martin Lindow , Sinje Irslinger , Morgane Ferru , Hans-Uwe Bauer , Patrick Heyn , Anne Werner , Björn Ingmar Böske and Michael Kind in leading roles. The first broadcast of the film took place on April 21, 2017 on the ARD slot "Finally Friday in the First".

action

Nora Kaminski, who has previously worked as a doctor on a luxury cruise ship, is moving from there to the island of Rügen in order to work in the practice of her college friend and colleague Dr. Richard Freese to be active. Freese needed a replacement for his retired colleague Dr. Gunsche.

As soon as she arrives on the island, Nora helps a young woman who fell in front of an evasive car. The doctor accompanies Wiebke Clarsen to the clinic and learns from her that she is pregnant. Wiebke is the 17-year-old daughter of the wealthy building contractor Alexander Clarsen. She implores Nora that her father should not know anything about her pregnancy.

First of all, Nora would like to move into her rented room in a “characterful old captain's house” and take a shower. The flowery described accommodation at Matthias Samland's turned out to be quite a letdown, not even hot water is guaranteed at all times, and neither is electricity.

In practice, the first thing Nora has to do is Michael Kubatsky, an elderly man who does not want to show her his skin disease, which is in a sensitive area. Then she has to deal with the patient Jochen Peters, who in her opinion has malaria , which Dr. Heckmann from the Rügen Clinic finds it amusing, since the man was not abroad and his diagnosis is different. Since Nora stubbornly insists on carrying out a corresponding test and thus questioning Heckmann's diagnosis, Heckmann reacts in an unpleasant way. He researches why Kaminski gave up her dream job to come to Rügen. That must have a deeper reason. With the help of a comment he creates his own picture and anonymously writes a letter to the editor that puts Nora in a bad light. At around the same time, Samland accidentally, he says, opened a subpoena addressed to Nora and now wants to know what it is all about. After a moment's hesitation, the doctor explains that she cannot prove the true facts. An elderly gentleman with heart disease met a woman who was about thirty years his junior on the ship and wanted to have a sexual enhancer from her, which she, however, refused to do. He then got the drug through a younger friend who was traveling with him and died while making love. However, the friend had denied that he had passed on the sexual enhancer prescribed for him and claimed that she had given it to his friend in exchange for cash. The shipping company then gave her a leave of absence. A lawyer managed to stop a process, but the family of the deceased had sued them civilly. She is up to her neck in trouble and not because she is incompetent, greedy or arrogant.

The rumor quickly spreads around the island and more and more patients no longer want to be treated by Nora, especially since she does not have a doctorate. Dr. However, Freese sticks to her and assures Nora that he knows that she is a good and responsible doctor.

Alexander Clarsen, who now knows that his daughter is pregnant and Eric, whom he hated is the father of the child, still wants to protect Wiebke and keep him away from him. While drunk and intoxicated, Eric had caused a serious accident in which Wiebke almost died. Since then he has been a red rag for Clarsen. Once again he clashes with the young man when he tries to impose 10,000 euros on him and demands that Eric disappear, never to be seen again. The young man tries to break away from Wiebke, but fails and after a dramatic incident in the port he shows up again at the hospital. This time he doesn't care that Clarsen is there too. Without a word, he walks past this to sit down by Wiebke's bed.

Dr. Heckmann experiences another surprise when he unwraps the present Nora left for him: An Anopheles mosquito preserved in a glass cube . After all, he has to laugh heartily at the sight.

criticism

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm pointed their thumbs to the side, gave one of three possible points for humor and tension and drew the conclusion: "' Rügen bathing boy ' is more mature!"

Tilmann P. Gangloff rated the film on tittelbach.tv and gave it four out of six possible stars. In summary, the critic stated: “'Practice with a view of the sea' looks like a combination of two other series of the ARD, 'Reiff for the island' and 'Eifel practice'. But that doesn't matter because the best of both formats has been adopted: Tanja Wedhorn plays a doctor who has retired to Rügen. The film only gradually reveals what she fled from. On the Baltic island she is confronted with the big and small stories that are common in such productions. Despite various dramas, the music signals that 'Willkommen auf Rügen' with comical moments, witty dialogues & especially with Wedhorn is above all entertaining. ”[…] The Friday films by director Jan Ruzicka“ almost always had a thoughtful core ” but "always staged with a light hand". In addition, the author duo "regularly intersperses astonishingly funny moments and witty dialogues". The rest is done by “Tanja Wedhorn, especially since Nora is one of those typical female film heroines” who “have to assert themselves in a man's world”.

The evaluation of the online portal Filmdienst was less positive : Not very original (television) comedy as the prelude to a series in which the Ruhrpott charm of the protagonist meets the cool, stiff warmth of the "Northern Lights" and for the commercially available (not only medical) Tangles. - From 14.
