The Pronja ( Russian Про́ня ) is a 336 km long right tributary of the Oka in the European part of Russia .

course

It rises near the watershed between the river systems of the Volga and Don in the northeast of the Central Russian Ridge . The source is located about 20 km south of Mikhailov in the southwest of Ryazan Oblast .

Initially, the river flows through a narrow valley towards the north, but after a few kilometers it makes a wide curve towards the west and south-west. About 15 km east of Kimowsk it reaches the border with Tula Oblast . Here it turns north and is dammed into a reservoir.

The Pronja then continues to flow in a northerly direction along the border of the Tula and Ryazan oblasts. To the west of Oktyabrsky it turns to the east. Shortly after it has passed the industrial center, it flows through Mikhailov. Then it flows on, first to the east, then to the southeast.

In Novomichurinsk the river is dammed again. Then it passes Korablino in the north, then turns north and reaches the Oka a little south of Spassk-Ryazansky .

The river is popular with anglers and is navigable on its lower course from April to the end of November.
