Propineb is a chemical compound from the group of zinc compounds and dithiocarbamates that is used as a fungicide . It is the propylene - analogue of Zineb .

Propineb is a flammable, yellow solid that is sparingly soluble in water and decomposes in a moist, acidic and alkaline medium.

use

Propineb is used as an active ingredient in crop protection products (as a fungicide). It is used in the cultivation of fruit , vegetables and wine to combat fungal diseases such as powdery mildew , scab and others. It inhibits spore germination on the leaf surface.

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland there is currently no approval for a preparation containing propine. Propineb is an active ingredient approved in principle in accordance with Directive 91/414 / EEC in Europe. Plant protection products with this active ingredient are approved in Malta and Romania. In addition, the active ingredient manufactured by Bayer is also sold on the Brazilian and South African markets.
