history

Prosevere was founded in 2006 by singer Gary Segars and guitarist Eric Ashe. A short time later, a bassist and a drummer joined the band, but they left the band that same year. After several auditions, two musicians were found in Rocky Griggs and Matt Riley in October. Shortly afterwards the band called themselves Prosevere .

In February 2007 the band went to the studio for the first time, where the band recorded a sample CD with 2 songs together with producer Johnathan Treeby (formerly Neville Brothers ). Treeby is known for his work with ZZ Top , Saving Abel and Thursday . The two songs were pretty successful. After the songs had been played on regional online radio stations for some time, national stations also became aware of the band. The songs are now played in Dallas , Memphis , St. Louis , Shreveport , Poplar Bluff and Muscle Shoals . Shortly after its release, the band toured Tennessee , Mississippi and Arkansas and were accompanied by Saving Abel, Egypt Central , One Less Reason , Black Light Burns and The Vanished .

In March 2008 the band went back into the studio and produced an EP with 8 songs, of which the 2 songs were republished on the sampler. The producer was Dan Martinie. The CD was released on July 29, 2008 and is called Versus . Then the band went on a promotional tour, where the band was supported by musicians from the bands Shinedown and 12 Stones . Again the band was accompanied by Saving Abel, Egypt Central and One Less Reason, but also by Inner 61 , Allyria and Sore Eyes . Versus is distributed worldwide through Amazon , ITunes , CD Baby and Rhapsody .

In early January 2009 the band was invited to play at the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival . There the band played together with 311 , Hinder , Shinedown , Theory of a Deadman and Korn . The rest of the year the band toured regionally.

After the songwriting and preproduction were completed, the recording of Prosevere's second EP began in May 2010. The release of the EP with the name Burn the City was planned for 2010. Ultimately, however, the EP was released on March 1, 2011. In November 2011, the third EP Three , an acoustic album with six songs.

On February 9, 2015, the group's first album, Hurts Like Hell, was released via Easy Target Entertainment .

In the regional ReverbNation charts , the band was number one for months. The band received positive reviews from major US newspapers such as the Memphis Flyer , the Commercial Appeal, and the Music Appraisal .

Commercial Appeal's Mark Jordan wrote that at the beginning of a day the band takes care of thousands of fans. The band is a rising star in the regional metal scene.

“... Prosevere who began the day with about 1,000 dedicated fans. One of the rising stars of the local metal scene, the four-piece, led by bushy-mane singer Gary Segars, showed their wide-ranging appeal ... "

- Mark Jordan on May 4, 2009 in Commercial Appeal

The April 30, 2009 issue of the Memphis Flyer states that the band with lead vocalist Gary Segars has established itself at the top of the Memphis metal scene in recent years.

"This young Memphis metal band has risen over the past couple of years to the top of their scene, led by the soaring vocals of wild-man frontman Gary Segars."

- Chris Herrington in the Memphis Flyer

C-Man from the Music Appraisal wrote that the band is trying to break the chains of modern rock music with a mix of hard metal breakdowns and classic rock riffs. He is of the opinion that the original voice of the singer makes the band even more expressive.

"... From metal breakdowns to classic rock riffs, the band uses their savvy to break the chains of modern rock music. Vocalist Gary Segars has an original voice that cuts through the band's heavy sound making the band even stronger. "

- C-Man from the Music Appraisal on November 1st, 2008
