The motorway begins at Knooppunt De Poel in the south of Goes and ends after around two kilometers in the north-west of Goes, where the road continues as the N256 in the direction of Zierikzee .
The N256 is an important connection between Rotterdam and the islands of Schouwen-Duiveland , Noord-Beveland , Zuid-Beveland and the larger cities of the Goes region , Middelburg , Vlissingen and with Ghent in Belgium . ( Strictly speaking, Zuid-Beveland is called a peninsula.)
Between Colijnsplaat and Zierikzee on Schouwen-Duiveland, the N256 runs on the “Seelandbrücke” over the Oosterschelde . With a length of five kilometers, this Zeelandbrug is the longest bridge in the Netherlands.
