The Quehue district is located in the Canas Province in the Cusco region in south-central Peru . The district was established on November 17, 1917. It has an area of 149 km². The 2017 census counted 2,660 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3260, in 2007 it was 2778. The district administration is based in the village of Quehue (also Qquehue) with 377 inhabitants (as of 2017) on the southeastern shore of the Laguna Pampamarca at an altitude of 3792 m . Quehue is located 18 km south-southwest of the provincial capital Yanaoca . 3 km west of Quehue, the Q'iswachaka suspension bridge spans the Río Apurímac .
Geographical location
The Quehue district is located in the Andean highlands in the west of Canas Province. The Río Apurímac crosses the southern part of the district in a northerly direction and then forms the eastern district boundary.
The Quehue district borders on the Checca district in the south, the Livitaca district ( Chumbivilcas province ) in the west, the Yanaoca district in the northeast and the Langui district in the southeast .
