history

The village Kocourek was in Ausspanne U Čepků at one from Bohemia to Moravia and Austria leading country trail, and originally belonged to Good Hostačov . The name Kocourek was derived from the cycling shoes that the wagons had to put on here because of the steep slope to the Výrovka valley. Later the place name Ráj prevailed; it is said to be derived from the flower gardens that surrounded part of the houses. Around 1650 Maria Magdalena von der Goltz acquired the Hostačov estate and gave it to the Jenikau rulership . At the beginning of the 18th century, Ráj was again part of the Hostačov estate. In the middle of the 18th century Ráj came back to the Goltsch-Jenikau rule. On October 21, 1784, Ráj was almost completely destroyed in the Jenikau city fire. In 1787 there were 27 houses in Rag . After the expansion of the Wiener Straße zur Chaussee, the village began to expand along the road to the south as far as Jenikau around 1820.

In 1840 the village of Ray , also called Rag or Raay , in the Caslauer Kreis on Wiener Straße , consisted of 39 houses in which 264 people, including three Jewish families, lived. The parish was Jenikau. Ray remained subject to Goltsch-Jenikau until the middle of the 19th century .

After the abolition of patrimonial Ráj formed from 1849 a district of the municipality Stupárovice in the judicial district of Habern . From 1868 the place belonged to the Časlau district . The Kolin-Deutschbrod railway line was built between 1868 and 1870, and the Goltsch-Jenikau railway station was built in an open field north of Ráj. The station building was built according to plans by Carl Schlimp . In 1883 a branch line to the Hostačov sugar factory was built . Since the territorial reform of 1960 the village has belonged to Okres Havlíčkův Brod . In 1961 Ráj was umgemeindet after Golčův Jeníkov and lost its district status. The branch line to Hostačov was shut down in 1964 and later dismantled.
