Rößling nature reserve

The Rößling is a nature reserve in the independent city of Dessau-Roßlau in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0091 is 24.44  hectares . The area has been under protection since 1926 (date of regulation: January 25, 1926) and was expanded in 1983. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the city of Dessau-Roßlau.

The nature reserve is located west of Mosigkau , a district of Dessau-Roßlau, on the southern edge of the Elbeurstromtal . It protects a natural deciduous forest on a hillside sloping down to the glacial valley. The forest is characterized by oaks, hornbeams and winter linden as well as pine stands in various forest communities. So pipe grass-oak forest and oak-hornbeam forest can be found. In the herb layer of the forest communities and especially along the embankment on the railway line, u. a. White Helleborine , White butterfly orchid , spruce asparagus , Solomon's seal , Digitalis grandiflora , twayblade , Fringed Pink , Prussian laser herb , Heidelabkraut , Mountain flat pea , Bergsegge and Tower herb and silver grass , white cinquefoil , Berg-tress , ears Blue loosestrife , Campanula glomerata , Common Gorse , Rispige Graslilie and Heidegünsel .

In the nature reserve are u. a. Blackcap and garden warbler , treecreeper , pied flycatcher and graycatcher , grosbeak as well as marsh , tailed and crested tits are native as breeding birds.

To the south there are further forest stands. Otherwise, the nature reserve is surrounded by agricultural land . The nature reserve is crossed by the Dessau – Köthen railway line, built in 1840 .
