Rabiosa Gorge around 1905

The Rabiosa is created by the confluence of the Stätzerbach and Chötzenberger Tobel near Stettli . Below Churwalden, it joins other streams that come from Parpan , the top of the pass and the slopes of the Stätzerhorn and the Parpaner Weisshorn . It forms a deep gorge near Passugg . At Meiersboden it flows into the Plessur, which comes from Arosa and flows northwest of Chur into the Alpine Rhine .

history

In 1863, in the Rabiosa Gorge near Passugg, the medicinal springs that had been in use since the 16th century, but had since been buried, were rediscovered. They became the basis of the Passugger mineral water spring, which is known throughout Switzerland .

Elektrizitätswerk AG Churwalden , which was established privately in 1906 , was thoroughly renovated in 1984, the existing turbines and generators were replaced and renamed Rabiosa Energie in 2007 ; In 2008, it was already supplying more than 2,000 subscribers in the entire Churwalden community.
