The long-distance cycle route Hamburg – Bremen was officially inaugurated on April 16, 2005. The cycle path is part of the German pilgrimage route (D7) , which in turn is part of the European pilgrimage route (EV3) .

A forerunner of this cycle path was set up in the 1980s. The bike path is around 150 kilometers long. It is signposted throughout. In Bremen it has a connection to the Weser cycle path , in Hamburg to the Elbe cycle path . It can be used as a shortcut for the North Sea Cycle Route.

Sections of the route have a rather poor pavement made of cobblestone or loose sand, which makes it difficult to use with narrow-tire bicycles.

Routing

The cycle path leads from Hamburg via the Harburg district (with the towns of Ehestorf , Sottorf , Ohlenbüttel , Appel , Hollenstedt , Heidenau ), the Rotenburg (Wümme) district (with the towns of Sittensen , Groß Meckelsen , Heeslingen , Zeven and Nartum ) and the artist town of Fischerhude ( Verden district ) to Bremen .
