Rakiya Maraoui-Quétier

Rakiya Maraoui-Quétier (born Maraoui ; born September 12, 1967 ) is a former French long-distance runner of Moroccan origin.

Life

At the 1986 World Cross Country Championships she came in 138th place. In 1989 she won the marathon of the La Francophonie Games in Casablanca and the following year Roma - Ostia . In 1990 she was sixth and in 1992 third at the Maratona d'Italia . At the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in 1993 in Stuttgart, she did not reach the goal.

She had her breakthrough in 1995 with a second place in the Paris Marathon and a third place each in the Berlin Marathon and in the 20 km of Paris . In 1996 she was sixth and in 1997 fifth in the Lisbon Half Marathon .

In 1998 she received French citizenship. Starting for her new home, she finished 17th at the World Half Marathon Championships in Uster . She finished ninth in the New York City Marathon .

In 1999 she won the Haarlem Half Marathon and was third overall in the Reims Marathon French Champion. At the European Cross Country Championships in Velenje , she was sixth and won gold with the French team. At the Cross Country World Championships 2000 in Vilamoura, she finished 23rd on the short distance and took bronze with the team. At the turn of the year she won the Corrida de Houilles . In 2001 she was eleventh in the endurance race of the Cross Country World Cup in Ostend and won the team bronze again.

In 2003 she was third in the Paris half marathon , fifth in the Paris marathon and came in 21st place in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis . At the marathon of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, she gave up.

She was twice French champion in cross-country running (2000, 2001) and once each over 10,000 m (2000), in the 10 km road run (2004) and in the marathon (1999).
