Career

High school

Randall Cobb attended Alcoa High School in Alcoa , Tennessee, where he played football, basketball and running. For his performance in football, he received a trophy from the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association . At this time he played in the offense, in the defense and in the special team, but mainly as a quarterback.

Cobb was also an ace runner. During his four-year membership in the running team, he specialized in short sprints and relay races. At the age of 16, he completed the 200-meter run in 21.89 seconds and, in his senior year, the 100-meter run in 10.75 seconds.

college

In his freshman year at the University of Kentucky , Cobb was used as a wide receiver and in the position of quarterback . He threw two passes for a touchdown , ran seven more, and caught two passes that resulted in a touchdown.

After that he was mainly used as a wide receiver, but also played an important role for the special teams . Randall Cobb is one of the few University of Kentucky players who scored a run and pass touchdown in one game and allowed another touchdown through a pass.

NFL

Randall Cobb was selected in the 2nd round as the 64th player in the 2011 NFL Draft by the then defending champions, the Green Bay Packers . Through his use at the season opener against the New Orleans Saints at home in Lambeau Field , he became the first NFL player born in the 1990s. Cobb caught a touchdown pass over 32 yards from Aaron Rodgers in the first quarter and scored a kickoff- return touchdown over 108 yards in the third quarter . Except for himself, Ellis Hobbs of the New England Patriots and later Jacoby Jones of the Baltimore Ravens , no other NFL player was able to do this at the time (record holder today is Cordarrelle Patterson with 109 yards).

Cobb also became the first rookie in Packers history to touchdown both a kickoff and an opponent's punt when he carried a punt over 80 yards for a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings later in the season .

In his second season, Cobb became one of the team's top performers. He achieved the most passes captured with the greatest gain in space for his team. Since he - as in his rookie season - was also used frequently in kickoff and punt returns, he also set a record for the largest total win in a season in the history of the Green Bay Packers.

On March 20, 2019, the Dallas Cowboys signed Cobb as the successor to their abandoned slot receiver Cole Beasley .

In March 2020, he signed a three-year contract with the Houston Texans, where he will earn between $ 19 million and $ 27 million.
