Randy Layne Turnbull (born February 17, 1962 in Bentley , Alberta ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . During his active career, he played a game in the National Hockey League for the Calgary Flames in the 1981/82 season .

Career

First Turnbull played from 1977 to 1979 for the Fort Saskatchewan Traders in the Alberta Junior Hockey League . He then continued his career with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Western Hockey League .

In the 1980 NHL Entry Draft , Turnbull was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round in a total of 97th position. In the 1981/82 season he completed his only NHL game for the Calgary Flames. With the Portland Winter Hawks, he took part in the Memorial Cup in 1982 after winning the President's Cup with the team . The Enforcer was a role-player who impressed opponents in the Junior Western Hockey League and the Minor Leagues with his physical strength. He holds the penalty minute record for the Colorado Flames team , for which the defender played in the Central Hockey League . In the 1986/87 season , the Canadian won the Turner Cup with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles . He ended his career in 1988 in the Flint Spirits dress .
