Ratzing, which goes back to the personal name Ratzo, is one of the real Ing villages that emerged during the first wave of settlements before the turn of the millennium. The Goldene Steig probably played a role in the facility back then . The street village of Ratzing on Klafferstraße emerged from post-colonization.

In 1333, three properties in Ratzing belonged to the “house of God”, a group of goods that were subordinate to the Bishop of Passau as special assets . The chairman shaft Ratzing belonged to the Bishopric of Passau to the Official Waldkirchen and subordinate to the district court Leoprechting. The place was in 1803 with the largest part of the Passau area in favor of the Electorate of Salzburg by Ferdinand III. Secularized by Tuscany and fell to Bavaria in 1805 .

The municipality of Ratzing was formed in 1818 from the Ratzing tax district, Ratzing section. Districts were Dorn , Erlauzwiesel , Ratzing, Reutmühle and Rohrwies . In 1825 the desert fresh corner was added, in 1841 Weid . In 1925, Zimmermandling was transferred from the Heindlschlag community . The municipality of Stadl , which was dissolved on January 1, 1946, was joined by Oberndorf , which was initially incorporated into Waldkirchen, on April 1, 1949 . With effect from July 1, 1970, as part of the regional reform in Bavaria, the municipality of Ratzing was dissolved and incorporated into the Waldkirchen market, which was elevated to a town on September 16, 1972.
