history

In the Middle Ages, what was later to become Martigny-Combe belonged to Kastlanei Martigny . In 1475, like all of Lower Valais , it was conquered by the seven Upper Valais tens . In 1833 the residents opposed the revision of the federal treaty and marched on the Bastonnade de Martigny against its liberal supporters.

Politically, the place belonged to the municipality of Martigny until 1841 and has since formed its own municipality. La Bâtiaz split off from Martigny-Combe in 1845 and Trento in 1899/1900 . Ecclesiastically, Martigny-Combe still belongs to Martigny today; it is looked after by the Augustinian canons of the hospice on the Great St. Bernhard .
