The Reetsberg near Küstelberg in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis is 791.6  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Rothaargebirge .

The Reetsberg is located in the northeastern part of the Rothaargebirge in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park between Winterberg in the west-southwest and Medebach in the east-southeast. Its summit rises almost 2 km south-southeast of Küstelberg (to Medebach), around 2.5 km east of Elkeringhausen (to Winterberg) and around 3.5 km west-northwest of the Augustinian convent Glindfeld (to Medebach). Its northern branch is the Großer Höcherkopf ( 764.3 m ), the southeast branch is  the Junge Grimme ( 782.1  m ) and the western branch of the Rösberg ( 785.7  m ). The west-southwest neighboring mountain of the Reetsberg is the Alte Grimme ( 754.9  m ) and the north-north-east, beyond the Großer Höcherkopf , is the Schlossberg ( 790.8  m ).

The mountain lies at the junction of Glindfelder Wald in the east and Elkeringhauser Wald in the west, and the forest property of the interested parties Küstelberg lies on it . The Uplandweg runs over the high elevations between Reetsberg and Junge Grimme .

On the outskirts of Küstelberg and thus at the northern foot of the Reetsberg, the Orke rises , not far north-north-west of the mountain summit its tributary Reetsbergsiepen , a little east-northeast of the Gelängebach and south of its tributary Eckeringhauser Siepen and southwest of the Deutmecke tributary Mückenhohlchen .

Natural allocation

The Reetsberg belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) to the subunit Hohe Seite (333.7). The landscape falls to the north into the natural area of Harfeld (333.56); to the north-east it leads into the natural area Grafschafter Kammer (with Upländer Tor) (332.52), and to the north-east it falls into the natural area Hardt and Wipperberg (332.51), both of which in the main unit Ostsauerländer Gebirgsrand (332) to the sub-unit Grafschafter Bergland ( 332.5) count.

Protected areas

On the Reetsberg are parts of the nature reserve (NSG) Glindfeld <LP Medebach> ( CDDA -Nr. 319281), which was founded in 2002 and is 21.53 km² in size, and on its foothills Rösberg those of the NSG Waldreservat Glindfeld <LP Winterberg> (CDDA No. 389938; 2008; 2.1 km²). On the Reetsberg and Rösberg there are also parts of the fauna-flora-habitat areas, forest reserve Glindfeld-Orketal (with side valleys) (FFH no. 4817-304; 29.97 km²) and Upper Orketal (FFH no. 4717- 306; 2.69 km²). In addition, part of the Medebach landscape protection area extends there (CDDA no. 345073; 1983; 44.68 km²).
