Duvieusart government

The Duvieusart government was in office in Belgium from June 8, 1950 to August 11, 1950. The coalition of Christian Democrats ( PSC / CVP ) and liberals ( PL / LP ) led by Christian Democrat Gaston Eyskens came into force after the referendum on the return of King Leopold III . back as the liberal coalition partner refused to return. The parliament was dissolved. In the parliamentary elections in 1950 , the Christian Democrats won an absolute majority in both chambers. Jean Duvieusartbecame Prime Minister of a sole government of the Christian Democrats. After the return of King Leopold III. violent protests with fatalities broke out in Belgium. The government resigned, the successor government was again a Christian Democratic government under Prime Minister Joseph Pholien .
