Reimar Hans von Bülow (* in Wieschendorf , baptized June 22, 1656 in Proseken ; † December 20, 1712 near Gadebusch ) was a German officer in the Danish service, most recently major general .

Life

Reimar Hans von Bülow came from the extensive Mecklenburg nobility family von Bülow and was a son of Engelke von Bülow auf Wieschendorf and his wife Dorothea, née. from Negendanck . His exact birthday is unknown, only his baptism date in the Proseken village church is recorded. From 1672 he studied at the University of Rostock .

In 1683 he became Kaptajn and company commander in the Dragoon Regiment set up by Woldemar Freiherr von Löwendal in the same year and served in Norway and in the Duchy of Holstein . In 1694 he was promoted to major in the Guard on foot . In 1700 he became adjutant to the commander of the Danish troops, Duke Ferdinand von Württemberg , who was advancing in Holstein against Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf , an ally of Sweden . The Peace of Traventhal ended this phase of the Great Northern War in early August 1700 .

Bülow returned to his old dragoon regiment, now Livregiment Dragoon (Leibregiment Dragoon), and became a lieutenant colonel . With the regiment he moved to Italy and Hungary to support the imperial troops. In 1708 he returned to Denmark and, as a colonel, became chief of the now so-called Hungarian Cavalry Regiment. In the battle of Helsingborg on March 10, 1710, which was unfortunate for Denmark , he distinguished himself in particular. In the same year he was appointed brigadier general.

In 1711/12 he led his regiment into the Mecklenburg and Pomerania war . He was fatally wounded in the battle of Gadebusch on December 20, 1712. He was buried in the town church of St. Jakob and St. Dionysius (Gadebusch) .

He was married to Sophie Elisabeth, b. von Bibow , a daughter of Hardenack von Bibow auf Westenbrugge and Elisabeth Anna, geb. from Wintersheim. The couple's children included Ludwig Wilhelm von Bülow and Engelke von Bülow .
