Friedrich Reinhard von Baczko (born May 2, 1830 in Posen , † October 20, 1913 in Darmstadt ) was a Prussian major general .

Reinhard was a son of the Prussian lieutenant Gustav von Baczko (1800–1841) and his wife Emma, ​​née Perdisch (1807–1893).

Military career

Baczko visited the cadet houses in Bensberg and Berlin . Subsequently, on April 1, 1848, he was transferred to the 18th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as Portepeefähnrich, took part in the suppression of the uprising in Poznan in the same year and was promoted to Second Lieutenant at the end of May 1848 . After a two-year command of the 5th combined reserve battalion, Baczko was adjutant of the 2nd battalion from mid-December 1854 to late September 1858 . As Prime Lieutenant he was transferred to the newly formed 3rd Posensche Infantry Regiment No. 58 on July 1, 1860 and rose to regimental adjutant in mid-November 1860. Baczko was promoted to captain on December 8, 1861 company commander . In this capacity he took part in the battles near Nachod , Schweinschädel and Königgrätz during the war against Austria in 1866 , was slightly wounded near Skalitz and, after the conclusion of peace, was awarded the Red Eagle Order, IV class with swords.

With the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France , Baczko became commander of the 1st Battalion in the 2nd Combined Landwehr Regiment in Neutomischel in July 1870 . He led this battalion in France at the siege of Metz , the battle of Noisseville and a number of other skirmishes. Awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class, he was appointed commander of the 2nd battalion in 3rd Posen Infantry Regiment 58 in mid-August 1872.Baczko was promoted to lieutenant colonel in March 1876 and was placed under position à la suite on February 3, 1880 initially charged with commanding the 5th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 113 in Freiburg im Breisgau . Baczko married Johanna Marx (1836–1905), the daughter of Hofrat Franz Marx , on November 8, 1864 in Liegnitz . The daughter Martha (* 1865) and the two sons Walter (* 1867) and Eberhard (1873–1876) emerged from the marriage.
