René Schulthoff

René Schulthoff (* 1972 in Erwitte ) is a German journalist , reporter and editor .

Life and career

René Schulthoff completed a two-year traineeship at the local station Hellweg Radio in Soest from 1993 , after which he studied journalism at the Technical University of Dortmund from 1995 to 1999 . At the same time he was involved in the preparation of international medical aid projects, for example 1996–1998 for Chechnya and 1997–1998 for Ingushetia . After completing his studies, he worked as a journalist at WDR ( Eins Live ) and at dpa , among others . In addition, from 1999 to 2002 he worked several times as a project manager for the Hammer Forum aid organization , such as 1999 in Albania , 1999-2001 in Kosovo and 2002 in the Palestinian autonomous regions .

From 2002 to 2007 Schulthoff worked as a journalist, reporter and video journalist at Radio Bremen TV . He also worked as an election observer for the OSCE / ODIHR , for example in Georgia in 2003 and in Ukraine several times in 2004 . As a TV editor and reporter, he worked for Spiegel TV in 2007 and for Focus TV in 2008 . In 2009 he was again involved as an election observer and was deployed by the OSCE / ODIHR for three months in Albania. In 2009, Schulthoff worked as a freelancer , as a TV journalist and as a consultant . Since September 2009 he has been working as an observer for the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia.

As a foreign reporter, Schulthoff reported from the countries of Eritrea, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Afghanistan, Macedonia, Albania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Cape Verde and Israel.

• 2008: Bremen DRK Media Prize (for the report aid transport to Lebanon ; TV report for buten-un-in)
