Life
Born in Altenburg, she grew up in Wiesa with her grandmother Milda Geißler. Later she came to a foster family in Annaberg in the Ore Mountains . There Geißler learned to be a stenographer and worked as a secretary in the dramaturgy of the Winterstein Theater .
Geißler completed her acting studies at the Leipzig Theater Academy, then took on engagements at the Leipzig City Theater and at the Saxon State Theater in Radebeul . Other venues followed. In 1970 she switched to the German Television Broadcasting Company (DFF) and played mainly in idiosyncratic roles. She made her breakthrough in 1972 as a nurse in the three-part TV series Jule - Julia - Juliane, Stations of a Young Woman , which her husband at the time Ulrich Thein wrote especially for her. The film was also shown in the cinemas in a shortened version (cinema title GDR: Juliane ).
As a character actress, she also took part in four DEFA cinema films, but she mainly worked for East German television and played in over 180 film and television productions during her long career.
In the early 1990s, Geißler turned increasingly to the theater, played in Dresden, Berlin and Stuttgart and toured Germany with a program. In addition, she also took on various television roles in all major TV channels, including the series Liebling Kreuzberg , Our Teacher Doctor Specht , Die Rote Meile , Die Feuerengel and currently in Block B - Unter Arrest .
To this day, she can be experienced across Germany with her colleague and songwriter Angelika Neutschel with musical and literary programs.
