No death is like the other is a German television film by Peter Wekwerth from 1999. It is the fifteenth film in the ZDF crime film series Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall with Wolfgang Stumph in the title role.

action

Entrepreneur and head of the family Justus Moritz has to deal with his children, who cannot even keep their peace at their mother's funeral. Their views on running the business and the distribution of the proceeds from it are too diverse. Since there is now an inheritance claim, the differences emerge again, which Justus Moritz nipped in the bud in his authoritarian manner. Shortly afterwards he lies shot dead in his villa. Inspector Stubbe receives instructions from his superior to deal with the case according to its importance, because the victim's men's clothing store is one of the most respected in the city of Hamburg. Stubbe is initially on his own during the investigation, because his colleague Bernd Zimmermann called in sick, but then appears unexpectedly to help with this celebrity murder. Though the circumstances look like a burglary, Stubbe must consider all possibilities. When he was questioned about the exact circumstances of his death, the family members block and act very busy. They also immediately complain to the criminal investigator about the manner in which Stubbe interrogates, which they invent as presumptuous. Gessner now has nothing else to do than withdraw the case from Stubbe and appoint Zimmermann as the main investigator. Stubbe is very angry about this and is still secretly investigating. The inspector learns about the quarrels within the family from the domestic servant, who in turn accuse the housekeeper 's son of having committed the alleged break - in and of having shot Moritz with his own weapon. Jan Rieken is currently serving a prison sentence in the Fuhlsbüttel prison , but was on leave at the time of the crime. For Zimmermann, the culprit is clear, but Stubbe, as so often, disagrees. According to his research, Rieken was with his girlfriend at the time of the murder. When this becomes known and Zimmermann has to admit his mistake, this stub is involved in the investigation. For Stubbe, Moritz Sohn and the daughter of the family as well as the son-in-law continue to have the greatest motive. All three have expensive hobbies and the company is in dire financial straits. The high life insurance of the victim suits the three of them. This also convinces Zimmermann and so they want to check the alibis of the three. But before that happens, Rafael Moritz is found shot dead. In a suicide note, he confesses the murder of his father, which he would have committed in the dispute over the business succession. Now he could no longer live with this guilt. While this solved the case for Zimmermann, Stubbe again had doubts. The suicide note doesn't seem real to him. In contrast, Justus Moritz's housekeeper now gives him a handwritten letter from him, which shows that he has committed suicide. With this it is clear to Stubbe that only his son-in-law Roland Hooge could have killed his brother-in-law. He finds proof of this on a floppy disk. Here Hooge had saved the alleged farewell letter from Rafael Moritz and then transferred it to his computer. Since he found his dead father-in-law, he could take the gun and arrange everything to look like a burglary so that life insurance could be preserved. He then eliminated his brother-in-law in the dispute over the company, because he did not agree with Hooge's planned sale of the traditional company. Zimmermann and Stubbe arrest Hooge.

Subplot

Caroline's independence is more difficult than expected. So she went ahead with the delivery of goods for a seemingly secure order and after the order was surprisingly canceled, she was left with the costs. Fortunately, with Zimmermann's help, she can avert this loss.

criticism

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm were critical: “The squabbles between the inspectors are amusing, but not new. The same applies to the script in the tried and tested rut. ". As an overall conclusion they finally drew: “Clear case: reliable everyday crime”; they gave the fifteenth stump case an average score by pointing to the side with their thumbs.
