Verräter is a German television film by Peter Kahane from 2010. It is the thirty-ninth film in the ZDF crime film series Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall with Wolfgang Stumph in the title role.

action

Commissioner Stubbe is called to the Elbe . The Hamburg third division soccer player Gerwin Streek from FC Titania 97 is found dead in his car. Streek died from a shot in the neck . During his investigation, Stubbe questioned the club's players and the club's president Giselher Huber, who did not tell him that Streek was the victim of perfidious bullying . The team reports that their teammate has changed recently and allegedly has been turned against them by someone. After checking the cell phone data, Streek had contact with Agnes Mohr shortly before his murder. The woman says she is currently building an association that takes care of whistleblowers who suffer from their employers because of their revelations. Streeks wanted to make the machinations in his club public, which has committed betting fraud for a long time. Unfortunately, the investigators cannot find any incriminating material that Streek must have collected. In the club, however, various videos of eligible games have disappeared. Because of the murder, the press has now also become aware of the association and openly blames the management there for pushing things, so that the police are now investigating specifically in this direction. A witness is found who saw Streek shortly before his death and is certain that he saw a woman in his car. He can identify this woman as Agnes Mohr, who now has to admit that she had a relationship with Streek and was sitting in the car at the time of the shot. Stubbe cannot rule out that Uwe Mohr shot his rival out of jealousy. When questioned, he admitted that he knew about the relationship, but asserts that he did not kill Streek.

In the meantime, Stubbe has found evidence that suggests that Agnes Mohr, not Streek, should be killed. She had recently lost a trial she was seeking against her former boss because she could not sufficiently substantiate her allegations. Dr. Klein is said to have performed operations under the influence of alcohol that resulted in deaths that can clearly be attributed to Klein's fault. Not wanting to accept this defeat so easily, she threatened Dr. Small that she will not rest until she has achieved her goal. Shortly afterwards, she was almost run over by a car on the open road that had targeted her. Inspector Stubbe has no idea of this attack and is therefore only investigating the allegations against Mohr's former boss. Stubbe can Dr. Not found Klein in the clinic, but found out that he was a hobby hunter and that he was demonstrably not in the clinic at the time of the crime. The evidence that Agnes Mohr is in mortal danger is confirmed. Stubbe immediately pulled out all the stops to get Mohr in front of Dr. To find Klein, who is verifiably chasing them with a black SUV. After the man is also searched for by helicopter, he can be caught before he can finish his plan. The evidence against the football club, believed to be lost, was ultimately found and the guilty party held accountable.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: “Stubbe's 39th case in its 15th year is solid, largely undramatic crime entertainment for the whole family. The fact that it is not an overly conciliatory 'word for Sunday' is due to Bibiana Beglau, who, in contrast to the dramaturgy, laid out her do-gooder in a wonderfully complex way between moral courage, despair and paranoia. "

At evangelisch.de , Tilmann P. Gangloff said: “Anyone who wants to ensure justice in everyday life, for example at work, often does not have it easy: because the boss has more leverage; and because the colleagues usually prefer to wait until the powder smoke has cleared and then decide which side they are on. "" At the beginning of an anniversary trilogy [...] 'Stubbe' father Peter Kahane ( script and director) tells in the usual relaxed, but always captivating way thanks to the guidance of the actors, a story that lives above all from its characters. "

Jürgen Kirsch wrote for quotenmeter.de : “The story is [...] in any case demanding and offers interesting, content-related aspects that are often not deep enough. The different and complex relationship constellations as well as the unexpected twists and turns in the course of the plot are a big plus point for the story of the crime film, which is overall very coherent. During the implementation, however, it is noticeable that the story to be told appears too overloaded. ”It“ becomes clear that, due to the great complexity of the issues, one has packed too much into the overall package, the seams of which threaten to burst in some places. ”

For the critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm , Verräter was “one part of the family series, three parts of suspense” and gave the film the best possible rating (thumbs up).
