In the blind spot is a German television film by Bodo Fürneisen from 2009. It is the thirty-fifth film in the ZDF crime film series Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall with Wolfgang Stumph in the title role.

action

Inspector Stubbe is called into the underground car park of the Hamburg youth welfare office , where the clerk Manuela Engelhard was found dead. She recently had an argument with the young mother Susanne Herold in the youth welfare office, because her child was taken away from its mother on suspicion of abuse. Stubbe creates a picture for himself and experiences both Susanne Herold and her friend, Steffen Schacht, as very quick-tempered. Since after the attack on Engelhardt, her bag with documents relating to the Herold case also disappeared, the suspicion against the young mother remains high. But Stubbe also notes that Herold's private situation is very tense. Understandably, she is very desperate, which also affects her work and threatens to be fired. Meanwhile, Steffen Schacht worsens their situation when he illegally intrudes into the children's shelter in which Herold's daughter is housed. However, he did not kidnap her, only brought her a jacket from her mother.

In the course of his investigations, Stubbe increasingly came to the conclusion that the overzealous youth welfare officer Engelhard had bent the evidence because she believed she had to protect Herold's daughter. In the past she had ruled too late once, which killed a young child. She didn't want to make this mistake again and therefore resorted to these means. But this confirms the suspicion against Susanne Herold, who in view of the hopeless situation should fight for her child by all means. After the victim's bag is found in Schacht's delivery van, he is under urgent suspicion. Shortly afterwards, however, Stubbe finds a reference that points directly to Herold. He confronts her and Susanne Herold confesses in her anger that she hit Manuela Engelhard with her head several times against her car.

Subplot

Wilfried Stubbe is once again worried about his daughter Christiane, who has not come home for a week. She wants to "throw away" her entire course of study when her laptop is stolen shortly before the deadline for her thesis and she failed to back up the data externally. Her friend Jutta helps her to recreate the work from an old version.

Charlotte has to come to terms with her new housekeeper, which is not easy for her, as she is used to determining everything on her own. The relationship is additionally strained when the woman brings her child to work and the boy promptly shoots a window pane with a ball.

Reviews

Tilmann P. Gangloff assessed for Kino.de : “With hundreds of thrillers per year, it is quite a feat when scriptwriters repeatedly manage to surprise their audience; even if certain patterns sometimes seem like fads. The diversionary maneuver, for example, is particularly popular: While the investigators are still groping in the dark, you think you are at least one step ahead of them, only to finally discover that you have been on the wrong track all along. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm summarized briefly: "Depressing case, solved with 'stupid sense'" and gave the film the best possible rating (thumbs up).
