Stubbe und der Geisterpolizist is a German television film by Christa Mühl from 1997. It is the ninth film in the ZDF crime film series Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall with Wolfgang Stumph in the title role.

action

The young student Stella Kielmann files a complaint against an unknown police officer who allegedly wanted to rape her. Only by using her pepper spray could she put him on the run. Since she works as a stripper in a night bar and there are no witnesses, her credibility with the officials appears to be very low. Stubbe, however, believes the young woman and initiates appropriate investigations. However, no policeman from the responsible police station can be identified on the basis of a phantom image made according to information provided by Stella Kielmann.

A few days later, a woman's body was found, but it had disappeared without a trace until the police arrived. Only a telltale uniform button is found at the scene of the crime, which forces Stubbe and Zimmermann to investigate within their own ranks. This meets with little understanding on the part of those affected. They immediately return the favor with a prank against Stubbe by stealing his bike in front of their territory. Meanwhile, Zimmermann has found a trace of the woman who may have recently become a victim. When a woman's corpse is actually found, the investigators have to determine that it is not the missing woman. Thus they are treading on the spot in their investigation. Zimmermann can only explain the origin of the uniform the perpetrator wears. Months ago, the district manager Horst Jankowski had his car with the uniform in it stolen. Stubbe therefore researches the circumstances of this car theft and finds the lead to a tennis club where Jankowski trains regularly. Zimmermann suspects Martin Gerber who works there to have taken his uniform out of the car before the car thief struck, because Stubbe had investigated him and learned from him that there was no uniform in the back seat. Gerber, realizing that he has been targeted by the investigators, burns his uniform and cleans his car so as not to leave any evidence against him. The forensic scientist can only secure two pine needles. With the help of Gerhard Rönke, as a plant expert, the location of the pines can be determined very precisely and so the police use sniffer dogs in the area to search for the missing corpse. This is successful and Stubbe and Zimmermann are therefore certain that Gerber is the culprit. After a short manhunt, the man can be found and arrested.

After successful completion and the proven innocence of the police colleagues, Stubb's bike surprisingly finds itself again.
