Stubbe's Legacy is a German television film by Wolfgang Luderer from 1995. It is the pilot of the ZDF crime film series Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall with Wolfgang Stumph in the title role.

action

The Stubbe family moves from their hometown of Dresden to Hamburg. Caroline Stubbe has got a home from her aunt, Charlotte Hoyn, that the family now want to use for a new phase of life. In return, Charlotte “only” expects full board, because she continues to live in the house. A whole new world opens up for the family, who had lived their previous life in a prefabricated housing estate. And on the way there, Wilfried Stubbe gets caught in his first criminal case. An obviously fleeing motorcyclist notices Stubbe and makes a note of the license plate. It looks like the driver is directly related to a robbery on a money transport in which one of the two perpetrators was killed. The motorcycle is found quickly and turns out to be stolen. According to the victim's wife, her husband had no friends and always worked alone. For Stubbe it is noticeable that the security officer Guido Schneider, who shot the bank robber, is also an experienced motocross driver. According to Stubbe's suspicion, Schneider himself was behind the attack and “hired” his girlfriend as the second perpetrator. With the targeted shot at the alleged money robber, he had not only eliminated him as a confidante, but also tried to divert any suspicion from himself. Stubbe just has to prove this. He succeeds after he can refute Schneider's girlfriend's alibi. When that is not enough, however, he sets a trap for the perpetrators, and when Scheider is caught trying to get the stolen money out of hiding, he is arrested.

The family's new start is not so successful in private life. Aunt Charlotte is very resolute towards the Stubbes and insists on the rights granted by contract. While she has the entire upper floor to herself, the four stubbes have to share the lower floor. Daughter Christiane takes the whole thing the least offense, but the nineteen-year-old son Fabian is very dissatisfied with his tiny room and the new conditions. He also mourns his lost home and his friends. He is determined to go back to Dresden. Unexpectedly, it is Charlotte who convinces him to stay. She also gives him a larger room on the upper floor. She also allows Wilfried to set up his old "thinker's couch" in the attic, although it has been agreed that no furniture in the house may be replaced or moved. This couch is very important to Wilfried and he often has his best ideas on it, which are particularly important for his work as a detective.

background

The film was shot in Hamburg and the surrounding area in 1994. The then 10-year-old Stephanie Stumph , the daughter of Wolfgang Stumph , who plays Commissioner Wilfried Stubbe, and Tom Wlaschiha each make their debut as actors . On 14 October 1995, the film was to prime time in the ZDF erstausgestrahlt. It appeared together with the nine subsequent cases under the title Stubbe - From Case to Case / Episode 1–10 on DVD.

criticism

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave it a medium rating (thumbs to the side) and described the East-West conflict dealt with in the film as "a somewhat worn topic, but with original dialogues". The bottom line was: "Four Saxons in the far north: not unhappy."
