Ulrich von Dobschütz
Ulrich von Dobschütz (born September 20, 1940 in Schreiberhau , Lower Silesia Province ) is a German actor , director , author , film producer and documentary filmmaker .
Life
After attending the Ernst-Kalkuhl-Gymnasium in Oberkassel (Bonn) and then studying German and Romance languages at the University of Cologne and at the University of Bonn with Benno von Wiese , Dobschütz graduated from the private theater school in Cologne (owner: Heinz Opfinger and his wife Marianne Jentgens ). This was followed by engagements at the stages of the city of Cologne and the Staatstheater Kassel , where he also worked as an assistant director . Dobschütz experienced his greatest theatrical successes during his years at the Nationaltheater Mannheim after his breakthrough in Arthur Lee Kopit's cult play Oh father, poor father, mother hung you in the closet and I'm very sick . In Mannheim he played alongside Joseph Offenbach in the Hessian dialect Datterich by Ernst Elias Niebergall , with Astrid Meyer-Gossler in William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and in Friedrich Schiller's play Turandot with Joachim Bliese and Jutta Lampe .
Since the beginning of the 1970s , Dobschütz worked as a freelance actor, went on numerous theater tours and was engaged at various theater festivals . As a film actor, he has appeared in well over 100 roles in cinema and television films (e.g. in " Roast Potatoes Included " (1967), " Der Stechlin " alongside Arno Assmann , " The Patriarch " as Reuter public prosecutor alongside Iris Berben ) and partly as one of the main actors, in TV series with (e.g. in " MS Franziska " as Paul Wilde next to Paul Dahlke , " Notarztwagen 7 ", " Das Traumschiff ", " Peter Strohm " next to Klaus Löwitsch , " Die Männer vom K3 "," Tatort "as assistant to Hansjörg Felmy ," A case for two "," Stubbe - From case to case "as Martin Gessler next to Wolfgang Stumph ," Der Bulle von Tölz ") and on the radio as a speaker in radio plays .
At the same time, he produced several documentaries for German television as an author and director with his own production company Sabelli-Film (in later years also in collaboration with his son Klaus, the current owner of the company) or wrote documentary contributions for radio as an author.
In addition to his work as an actor and director, Dobschütz is also the author of a number of poems and short stories , which he himself presents in readings by authors nationwide. Dobschütz, who in addition to German dialects ( Hessian , Kölsch , Rhenish ) also speaks English, French and Italian, lives today in Berlin and for decades in Rome , where he works alongside international stars (e.g. Anthony Quinn ) in international and Italian Participated in film and television productions. In 2010 he played the role of Cardinal Brummer in Rome, alongside leading actor Michel Piccoli, in the film Habemus Papam - A Pope Büxt aus , directed by Nanni Moretti .

Ulrich von Dobschütz comes from the old Silesian noble family von Dobschütz and is the son of Bernard von Dobschütz (1906–1994) and his first wife Martha von Bethe (1910–1947).
Ulrich von Dobschütz and Barbara Gerschlauer (born January 18, 1941 in Kiel ) married on December 30, 1964 in Laubach ( district of Gießen Hessen ) , with whom he has a son. His grandfather was Felix von Dobschütz (1867–1936), his cousin is Leonhard von Dobschütz (* 1940).
