Felix von Dobschütz

Felix Hans Otto Max von Dobschütz (born September 9, 1867 in Langhermsdorf , Freystadt district , province of Silesia ; † January 5, 1936 in Herischdorf , Lower Silesia province ) was the first pastor ( pastor primus ) at the Protestant parish church of Opole (today: cath. Franciscan Church (Opole) ) and Superintendent of the Opole district as well as Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John .

family

Dobschütz came from the Silesian noble family Dobschütz . His parents were the imperial post office assistant Maximilian von Dobschütz (1839–1907) and Emilie, née Schilasky (1842–1913).

Dobschütz married on June 30, 1896 in Kuttenberg , district of Löwenberg ( Bohemia ) Julie von Görtz and Astein (born June 30, 1874 in Chrudim , Bohemia; † June 29, 1945 in Vohburg an der Donau , district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm , Bavaria ), the daughter of the Austro-Hungarian Chamberlain and Major General Gustav von Görtz and Astein (1842–1903; also called " Görtz von Asten " or " Görtz von Astein ") and his 1st wife Martha von Prittwitz and Gaffron (1847– 1875).

His grandchildren are Leonhard von Dobschütz (* 1940), often called like his grandfather Felix , and the actor Ulrich von Dobschütz (* 1940).

Life

After graduating from high school in Lauban (Lower Silesia), Dobschütz studied theology at the Universities of Breslau and Berlin . He then received his first pastor in Karoschke, today a district of Oborniki Śląskie (German: Obernigk) in the Trebnitz district (Lower Silesia); from 1901 he was second pastor in Opole . In 1914 he became first pastor ( pastor primus ) and superintendent of the church district of Opole.

The constantly growing evangelical community in Opole offered Dobschütz a wide field of work. In addition to the Protestant parish church in Opole - today a Catholic Franciscan Church - five other churches and preaching sites had to be supplied. In addition, the man with the innate ability to speak was responsible for a large number of associations. He was chairman of the Evangelical Men’s Association in Opole , the virgin association and secretary of the Gustav Adolf Foundation .

The Protestant church in Graefort was built during Dobschütz's tenure . Under his direction and advice from the state curator Dr. Burgemester, the Opole parish church was expanded and rebuilt in the 1920s.

At the same time, Dobschütz was military chaplain of the Opole garrison for many years and in the first 20 years of his activity in Opole gave Protestant religious instruction in the Catholic grammar school in Opole.

In 1933 Dobschütz retired and moved to Herischdorf in the Giant Mountains, where he died on January 6, 1936 at the age of 68. While the bells of the Protestant parish church in Opole rang in his memory for 1 hour, Dobschütz found his final resting place at the Liegnitz central cemetery at the side of his parents.
