Rinat Schumabajew ( Kazakh Ринат Жұмабаев , Russian Рина́т Атогали́евич Джумаба́ев ; born July 23, 1989 in Shymkent ) is a Kazakh chess player .
He won the Kazakh individual championship twice: in 2014 and 2017. He played for Kazakhstan at five Chess Olympiads : 2008 to 2012 as well as 2016 and 2018 . He also took part in the Asian team championships (2012).
At the Chess World Cup 2011 he failed in the first round to Laurent Fressinet , at the Chess World Cup 2015 he also failed in the first round to Pawel Eljanow . At the 2019 World Chess Cup , he beat Ferenc Berkes in the first round and was eliminated by Dmitri Andreikin in the second round .
When Aeroflot Open in Moscow in 2020, he finished second.
