The Riveris is a right and southern tributary of the Ruwer in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is dammed by the Riveristalsperre built in 1953 , which u. a. serves to supply the city of Trier with water . The Riveris is one of the coarse material-rich silicate low mountain range brooks. It is a second order body of water from the mouth in Waldrach to the tributary of the Kallerbach near Bonerath .
Surname
The name Riveris is derived from Latin and means "small river".

The Riveris is created by the confluence of the Eschbach and Misselbach rivers at an altitude of 397 m above sea level. NHN .
The longer Eschbach rises in the Osburger Wald on the western flank of the Hohe Wurzel (669 m) at an altitude of 600 m above sea level. NHN .
Up to the Riveristalsperre , the stream flows mainly in a westerly direction and then turns its course to the north. The only settlement on the brook that flows through is the Riveris of the same name . After a river stretch of 13.3 km in total, the water flows from the right at 164 m above sea level. NHN in the Ruwer . Before that, it runs through a gradient of 436 m, on average 32.8 ‰. The Riveris drains a 28.866 km² catchment area via Ruwer, Moselle and Rhine to the North Sea .
Tributaries
The most important tributary of the Riveris is the Bausbach with a catchment area of 7.455 km² .

Natural monuments
The Riveris valley is rich in quartzite rocks such as the Langenstein (district Morscheid) and the Weißenstein near the fairground of the Riveris community, which are natural monuments.
Water quality
The structural quality of the Riveris from the source to the Riveris dam is mainly indicated as slightly changed to moderately changed. However, some sections are also classified as significantly to heavily changed, of course the area of the dam has changed completely. Below the dam, the water structure is predominantly considered to be moderately or significantly changed. The location of Riveris is completely changed again.
According to the water quality, the river is unpolluted up to the location of Riveris, after that it is less polluted (as of 2005).
Mills
On the Riveris were or are the Obere and the Untere Osburger Mühle in the area of today's dam, the Feilensmühle, the Riveriser Mühle, the Schneidemühle / Lauers Mühle, the Schmelzmühle and the Schleifmühle.
Others
The upper reaches of the Riveris was up to the middle of the 19th century at an altitude of about 450 m above sea level. NHN shortly after the confluence of the Altweiherbach and Eschbach rivers, the Neuwies forest hut settlement belonging to Osburg .
