Robert Weigl (born October 16, 1851 in Sagor , Krain , † December 27, 1902 in Vienna ) was an Austrian sculptor .

Life

The place and time of Robert Weigl's birth are given differently according to the literature. Both Czeike and the Belvedere speak of October 16, 1851, with Czeike Sagor in Carniola giving the Belvedere Vienna as the place of birth. However, the year 1852 can be read on the honorary grave in Vienna's central cemetery.

Weigl studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Carl Radnitzky , Johann Nepomuk Geiger and Carl Wurzinger . From 1892 to 1898 he was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus .

Weigl was initially buried in the Gersthofer Friedhof , but in February 1903 he was awarded an honorary grave in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 32A, no. 9).

Works

In addition to sculptures for monuments, Robert Weigl also created miniature sculptures.
