Robin Hood and the Pirates (Original title: Robin Hood ei Pirati ) is an Italian adventure film from 1960 . Lex Barker slips into the role of the famous hero a second time after Rebel without mercy .

action

During a violent storm, Robin Hood manages to escape the men who kidnapped him on their ship and reach the coast of his homeland. There he learns that the riot Brooks killed his father and is now terrorizing the county. In order to realize his plans for revenge, Robin allies himself with the pirates and now fights against the militias of the insidious Brooks, which also earns him the sympathy of the people. Before he can succeed the soon-to-be-defeated Brooks, he has to deal with the intrigues of Brooks' daughter Lisbeth, who tries to torpedo his love for the beautiful Kareen. Robin Hood also overcomes this obstacle.

The film premiered in Italy on December 24, 1960. It was shown in Germany from August 4, 1961. On April 3, 1971 it was first broadcast on television in the German Democratic Republic . The film was released on August 14, 2008 in Germany on DVD with an FSK-12 rating.

criticism

TV fiction film judges that the film shows "knight and robber romance in beautiful nature". The lexicon of international films wrote that the film contained “undemanding knight and pirate romance in front of a photogenic landscape”. G. Ciaccio judges that Lex Barker has the looks and the athletic abilities for this revival of the noble heroes in a new setting aimed at an audience used to adventure.
