Rock against foreign infiltration

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A music event by neo-Nazis titled Rock Against Foreign Immigration took place in Thuringia in 2016, 2017 and 2018 .

Around 500 people took part in the first concert in Kirchheim in 2016.

The event in Themar in 2017, which was declared a “political assembly” ( demonstration ) , had 6,000 participants from the right-wing extremist scene . The event, which was advertised across Europe in the relevant scene, was the largest right-wing rock concert of 2017. The event got more and more in the headlines, among other things because the AfD local politician Bodo Dressel made a plot of land available for the event, which in turn was in advance led to the departure of the deputy chairwoman of the AfD Thuringia, Steffi Brönner. The Minister President of Thuringia Bodo Ramelow called after the concert in Themar a tightening of the right of assembly , to prohibit effectively to this kind concert events.

The event in 2018 took place on the market square in Apolda after difficulties with choosing a seat . It had around 700 participants and was canceled by the organizer after around an hour due to attacks on the police.

Background and development

The applicant for the event "Rock against foreign infiltration " in 2017 was the NPD politician Tommy Frenck . Organizationally, the concerts in 2016 and 2017 were supported by the group "Turonen / Garde 20".

Grounds and concerts

Concert 2016

“Rock against foreign infiltration” took place in 2016 with almost 500 neo-Nazis in Kirchheim im Ilmkreis  .

Matthias Fiedler from the NPD Thuringia, the "Area Manager Thuringia" of the " European Action " Axel Schlimper, Robert Köcher from the " Thügida ", Nico Metze from the Hammerskins and Michael Zeise, " The III. Weg “and free activist, as a speaker.

The right-wing rock bandsDie Lunikoff Conspiracy ”, “ TreueOrden ”, “ Uwocaust ”, “ Tätervolk ” and “ Frontfeuer ” played.

Concert 2017

Themar , where the concert “Rock against foreign infiltration II” took place, is a 3000-inhabitant city in a rather rural region in the Hildburghausen district in the south of Thuringia.

The Hildburghausen District Office, as the approval authority, had not rated the concert as a meeting and had not dealt with the registration conclusively. It was known in advance that entrance fees would be charged for the “political gathering”. The organizers sued in an urgent procedure against the refusal of the Hildburghausen district office . After all, there are also verbal contributions between the bands. They were right at the Meiningen Administrative Court . A complaint by the district office against the decision of the administrative court before the Weimar Higher Administrative Court failed. The land for the right-wing extremist event was made available in 2017 by AfD local politician Bodo Dressel. Dressel is mayor of the community of Grimmelshausen . The 2017 concert was advertised across Europe in the right wing scene. 6000 people attended the event on July 15, 2017.

The fact that Dressel made the property available prompted the deputy chairwoman of the AfD Thuringia , Steffi Brönner, to resign at the beginning of July 2017, just under two weeks before the concert . Brönner accused her state association of right-wing extremist ideas and of filling central positions with known right-wing extremists. The AfD distanced itself from Dressel's action; in order to forestall a process of elimination, he resigned from the party.

Among the speakers at the event included well-known neo-Nazis, as the former NPD chairman  Günter Deckert , " The rights ' activist and Kameradschaftler Sascha Krolzig and" Thügida "spokesman  David Köckert and Denis Nikitin from Russia . Nikitin is the head of the martial arts community " White Rex ", which trains neo-Nazi activists at home and abroad in fighting techniques.

The right-wing extremist bands “ Stahlgewitter ”, “ The Lunikoff Conspiracy ”, “ Sleipnir ”, “ TreueOrden ”, “ Blood witnesses ”, “ Flak ” and “ Uwocaust ” played from 12 noon to 1 am .

The police were on duty with 1,000 riot police officers, several hundred from the state police and support from six other federal states.

According to the Thuringia police, criminal charges were filed against 46 participants in the neo-Nazi concert , among other things for bodily harm , violation of the weapons law , threats , insults , damage to property and the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations . Three people were taken into custody and 440 identifications were made . In order to receive tax-free income, the 35 Euro entry was declared as a donation. With 6,000 visitors there was an income of 200,000 euros. However, according to an expert, the criteria for donations were not met because the organizer was not selfless, there were admission controls, so the payment was not voluntary and was not made without consideration.

On July 29, 2017, a concert by neo-Nazi Patrick Schröder, the operator of the right-wing extremist media portal FSN , took place in Themar for 750 participants under the title Rock for Identity , against which the Hildburghausen district did not complain, but wanted to impose conditions. Around 1,000 visitors came to the concert.

Concert 2018

After several failed attempts to find a venue, the concert, again announced as a political event, took place on October 6, 2018 in Apolda . The pre-concert in Magdala planned for October 5th failed because access to the site was prohibited by a court. The bands The Lunikoff Conspiracy , Stahlgewitter and Gigi & Die Braunen Stadtmusikanten as well as the songwriter Barny were announced as "music contributions" . Due to massive attacks against the police, the event was terminated prematurely by the organizer, who thereby anticipated a termination by the police.

Counter-demonstrations

Several hundred people demonstrated against the neo-Nazi event in 2017. A total of nine events had been registered in advance. The city held a citizens' festival on the market square.

A civic alliance called for a protest against the concert in 2018. Around 700 people responded to this call.

Reactions

"You can get pretty sad and helpless when you see that they - disguised as a demonstration - held a huge right-wing rock festival," said the Prime Minister of Thuringia Bodo Ramelow ( Die Linke ) after the 2017 concert The concert registered as a “political assembly” earns money for their network and the costs are passed on to the state. Ramelow called for the right of assembly to be restricted in order to be able to ban such neo-Nazi concerts more easily in the future.
