Rohnstedt is a district of the city of Großenehrich in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia .
geography
The street village Rohnstedt is two and a half kilometers south of Großenehrich 250 meters above sea level in the arable hills of the Thuringian Basin at the foot of the southern roofing of the Hainleite in a large corridor. The main road in 2090 connects the district with the neighboring villages and the distant countryside. The Obergroll and Untergroll are two valuable corridor woods with the Grollbach. Rows of fruit trees and orchards give the landscape its character.
history
The predominantly agricultural village is currently inhabited by 148 residents. It was first mentioned in a document on September 27, 976. Until 1918 Rohnstedt belonged to the rule of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen .
In the 1950s , the collectivization of agriculture, ordered by the government of the GDR , took place in the village .
Attractions
The Rohnstedter village church St. Gotthardt is the most important architectural monument of the place. It was built in 1693 in place of a dilapidated previous church. The tower from 1727 has a baroque onion dome . In 2001, the wooden roof structure of the tower hood was renovated, the roof was slated again and equipped with a circumferential gutter.
The three bronze bells from 1739, 1850 and 1856 had to be handed in for war purposes during the First World War. They were replaced by three cast steel bells in 1920. In 1837 the original baroque style of the interior of the church was adapted to the Biedermeier style. The Gothic winged altar (around 1510), which was converted in this context, was restored to its original shape in 1989/90. Further renovations with a complete reconstruction of the interior were carried out between 1987 and 1992.
